July 12th, 2016 – New York, NY – New York indie rock act The Commuters have premiered their brand new single “Before I Was Born” via idobi Radio. Fans can check out the song and lyric video today, here: http://goo.gl/FnEYtS. ”Before I Was Born” is the title track from the band’s forthcoming EP, which will be released on August 12th, 2016 and marks The Commuters’ first release since 2012’s Rescue. For more information, please visit: www.thecommuters.com.

On the new song, frontman Zeeshan Zaidi shares: “The song was inspired by watching the deep and intimate relationship that a newborn has with its mother right at birth. But more broadly, it’s about the bonds we often feel with people we’ve just met, as if we’ve known them for years. I think we’re all more connected to one another than we realize.

The Commuters, consisting of Zaidi (vocals,guitar/keyboard), Uri Djemal (guitar/keyboard), Ben Zwerin (bass), and Paul Amorese (drums), might hail from New York, but their kinetic, personal anthems capture an alt-rock essence that aspires toward worldwide appeal. Their 2012 debut, Rescue, earned the band accolades and exposure from outlets as wide-reaching and influential as college radio, mtvU, PureVolume and Guitar World. But more importantly, it spoke to listeners in a direct, uncomplicated way that created a devoted worldwide audience thanks to the band’s songs being equal parts melody and honesty.

Zaidi’s songwriting on The Commuters’ forthcoming EP reflects the band’s continued desire to move as many people as possible with their music. He fuses together longtime influences such as David Bowie and Peter Gabriel with modern progressive artists such as The Killers and Bon Iver to create intriguing, engaging rock songs that are destined to connect with you on a visceral level.

The Commuters will release their new EP Before I Was Born via Communal Records on August 12th, 2016.

February 2, 2016 – New York, NY – New York indie rock act, The Commuters have premiered their brand new video “You’ll Stay Right Here” today via Pancakes & Whiskey, here: http://bit.ly/1Sqjf34. The song, which originally comes from the band’s debut album Rescue, has been remastered and will be featured on their forthcoming EP – to be released Spring 2016.

“You’ll Stay Right Here” was written by frontman Zeeshan Zaidi after a loved one was diagnosed with Lymphoma. The band has partnered with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to help raise awareness and will be donating all proceeds from the sales of the single on iTunes. To purchase the track, please visit: http://apple.co/1Tmltzw, and for more information on The Commuters, visit: http://www.thecommuters.com.

On “You’ll Stay Right Here” and the new video, Zaidi tells us: “I wrote ‘You’ll Stay Right Here’ when I learned someone close to me was diagnosed with Lymphoma. So I wanted the video to help spread the word about LLS and their amazing work.

The video tells the story of two dogs who fall in love, get married, and then learn that one of them has cancer. Michele Przypyszny, executive director of the New York City chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphona Society, shares: “We are so excited to be working with The Commuters. ‘You’ll Stay Right Here’ is a beautiful song and tribute to a friend fighting for life. Telling the story of cancer through the unbreakable bond of pets is a wonderful way to show compassion, friendship and unconditional love and support – all of which is needed when you are diagnosed with cancer. LLS is lucky to be a part of such a wonderful moment.

Before forming The Commuters in 2010, Canadian-born Zaidi helped develop the careers of major label artists while working at Arista and RCA records, and produced Grammy-nominated Ryan Leslie’s first demo. Guitarist Uri Djemal is a childhood friend of Zaidi’s (they grew up together in the Philippines) and a New York-based producer. The two co-produced Rescue at Djemal’s studio, where Djemal has produced many artists in New York’s indie-rock scene as well as engineered for Kanye West. They are joined by upstate New York native Paul Amorese on drums, and bassist Ben Zwerin.

The Commuters might hail from New York, but their kinetic, personal anthems capture an alt-rock essence that aspires towards worldwide appeal.
