August 12th, 2016 – New York, NY – New York indie rock act The Commuters have released their brand new EP Before I Was Born today, August 12th. Fans can purchase it now via iTunes, where it is currently #3 in the Alternative Top EPs and Singles Chart, or stream it via Spotify. The Commuters recently premiered the EP via Downtown Magazine, and were also featured on idobi Radio for title track “Before I Was Born.” The band will be celebrating the EP, which marks their first release since 2012’s Rescue, with a hometown album release show in New York City at Piano’s on Wednesday, September 14th. For more information, please visit: www.thecommuters.com.

Frontman Zeeshan Zaidi shares: “We’ve been away for a little bit and are excited to get back and reconnect with our fans. This EP has just 4 songs but a lot of life has happened in our time off, so it’s very personal and covers a lot of ground — creation, mortality, struggle and hope.

The Commuters, consisting of Zaidi (vocals,guitar/keyboard), Uri Djemal (guitar/keyboard), Ben Zwerin (bass), and Paul Amorese (drums), might hail from New York, but their kinetic, personal anthems capture an alt-rock essence that aspires toward worldwide appeal. Their 2012 debut, Rescue, earned the band accolades and exposure from outlets as wide-reaching and influential as college radio, mtvU, PureVolume and Guitar World. But more importantly, it spoke to listeners in a direct, uncomplicated way that created a devoted worldwide audience thanks to the band’s songs being equal parts melody and honesty.

Zaidi’s songwriting on The Commuters’ forthcoming EP reflects the band’s continued desire to move as many people as possible with their music. He fuses together longtime influences such as David Bowie and Peter Gabriel with modern progressive artists such as The Killers and Bon Iver to create intriguing, engaging rock songs that are destined to connect with you on a visceral level.

The Commuters released their new EP Before I Was Born via Communal Records on August 12th, 2016.

Frontman Zeeshan Zaidi shares: “We’re all about New York. None of us were born here but we all arrived after college and are now New Yorkers forever — that’s what the city is all about. Being a New York band is kind of the same — we bring all sorts of musical influences and backgrounds to the table, but you mix it all together in this NYC cauldron and out comes something that captures the city’s ethos. The hustle, the energy, the colors, the vitality.”

We’re very excited about this EP. We’ve played a lot of NYC’s most iconic clubs and we’ll be bringing our show (and our fans!) to more of them this fall. We’re also planning to hit the road and do some East Coast shows.

July 12th, 2016 – New York, NY – New York indie rock act The Commuters have premiered their brand new single “Before I Was Born” via idobi Radio. Fans can check out the song and lyric video today, here: http://goo.gl/FnEYtS. ”Before I Was Born” is the title track from the band’s forthcoming EP, which will be released on August 12th, 2016 and marks The Commuters’ first release since 2012’s Rescue. For more information, please visit: www.thecommuters.com.

On the new song, frontman Zeeshan Zaidi shares: “The song was inspired by watching the deep and intimate relationship that a newborn has with its mother right at birth. But more broadly, it’s about the bonds we often feel with people we’ve just met, as if we’ve known them for years. I think we’re all more connected to one another than we realize.
